When you do ask though ask him if you can trade some labor for hunting priveleges. They can always use help and I have tied up several farms this way.
That's the way to do it. And offer skills that you may have such as welding, drywalling, mechanics, electrical, painting, etc that he may need. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a farmer, could just be a landowner.
