I think the Tru-Center has a stop built in? On the point end, you don't have to go until you get a sharp end--not even close. On the nock end, you go until you almost get a sharp end. The point taper should be an inch or so, maybe a little more. I'll try to rememeber to measure one of mine. Clean the inside of the points with acetone, ream them out with sandpaper, then clean again--you will be a lot less likely to pull them off in a target if you do that.
