Default RE: I feel like a bad hunter ...

i have always been a great shot...all my life if i would shoot at it chances are i got it...my dad was impressed that i was so good even at young ages...last year(i was 14) already successesfully bagged 2 deer in my life...i was on a junior hunt like you...doe comes trotting along..15yds or so..click the saftey off and let one rip...very little blood...we searcherd for 3 hours to find a 50 yd blood trail and thats it..m dad seen where i hit it was above the lungs but below the spine..so nothing got hit really...i was sick for a week...regular rifle season...big monster doe shows up at first light about 45 yds away..i click the saftey off and shoot...she doesnt move!i couldnt believe it! a clean miss...few days later 4 does come across a hill about 45 yds...i take the lead doe...hit so low i just grazed her...searched forever to find one drop of blood..talked to a guy hunting about 1/2 mile away and he said a few mins after the shot he seen 4 does and they all looked fine..she got away too..i planned on never deer hunting again after that year! that summer i buy a leupold to put on my gun because all i had was ashotgun scope before because of the rear sight on my mauser but the guy fingured a way to get a full sized scope on so i did...my dad took my old scope to put on a slug gun...the guy was mounting it and asked if it was new..my dads like no why? the guy told my dad to move the powers and look at the crosshairs...everytime i moved the powers the crosshairs moved! i still feel sick knowing there are 2 deer out there with holes in them because of me...but atleast i know it wasnt my fault...now i wil never buy junk scopes..everybody has to learn lessons...some the hard way..like we did...you probally got the fever over your first deer and pulled the shot...its a terrible thing but now you know not to let it happen again...
