Default RE: Deer and cold weather/recent snowfall ?

Outdoorman I doubt the snow will have any effect on the rut, it is generally beleived that the rut is associated more with the shortened days than anything else, there are those who beleive the moon plays a part in it, but there is a far larger school that feels the shorter days are the main factor.

I have never hunted that far north, as a matter of fact I have never hunted any further north than Va., but usually as long as the temps are not real cold their patterns will not change much, when it gets real cold they do tend to move more in the day time though. In regards to the snow, we do not get enough snow during our seasons here to comment, but I will tell you that the deer will go on a feeding frenzy if there is bad weather coming. The great thing with snow is you can see deer easier and you can tell where they have been and how many a lot easier.
