I believe stock fit is critical. Some brands of rifles are better for reducingfelt recoil than others. Corrections can be made to make them better. I've heard bad things about Rugers having unnecessary recoil(only one I ever had was in 220 Swift, so no help there). It would best if you could shoot some different rifles at the range and keep notes (make, model, weight, cartridge, bullet weight, stock shape, and RESULT).
