Default RE: Question from a new bowhunter

Scott if you own the land build permanent stands, however it is to late in the season to do this, for right now I would go with either ground blinds or a portable tree stand, after your season is over you will have a better idea of where the deer are moving during hunting season and you will be able to build your permanent stands for next season in productive spots. Build the permanent stands this spring because usually deer change thier patterns during the changing seasons and once you have a permanent stand in place the deer will get used to them being there and not view them as a threat. The biggest advantages to permanent stands are you are far more comfortable, you can move in them with out being seen and being there year round the deer don't mind them.

Oh yea your original question, 90% of the game is positioning of your stand, you can during the rut get them in with a call sometimes, not always though, I prefer doe bleats, I think of bucks in rut as teenage boys who would rather be a lover than a fighter, so I pretty much stick with doe bleats.
