Something new as stated above would be more worrysome. Some guys actually use turpentine for masking scent. I was a painter and so was my buddy and we used to go hunting right after work and there was no time for a shower. We seen and bagged many a buck. The question is was it oil or latex. Some Latex as ammonia in it which may or may not alarm deer. But oil has mineral spirits of subturp in it which won't hurt. But if you want to let the smell go away, let it stand for 3 or 4 days outside.
