I boil my heads in sal soda that I order from a taxidermy cataloge. It makes the fats and meat "gelatize" and come off the skull easier. There is still some old fashioned elbow grease involved, but not what it used to take me.

To be honest, I am going to take two heads that I have in the freezer to a buddy that is just getting a taxidermy business off the ground and is only charging $65 for a european mount. I enjoy doing them myself and take pride in my own work, but my time is worth more than that.
