I have some sold some "collectible rifles/shotguns" the last few years and pretty much in every event the original box and unfired condition are a necessity to get anywhere near book value. I had the 300 win mag version of the classic(1988?) and I sold it for about 100 under book but that's what I paid for it anyway. It was fired a few times , no marks on the wood or steel and no box.
