Need A Traditional Quiver Cheap And Easy ?
Here is an Idea I got From The Mesquito Indians in nicaragua, when I went there to mission from our Church.
Take a Bamboo 4" In Dimeter or less if you want to carry less than 10 arrows, Make sure the bamboo has Long sections, hat way you only need to remove One section Thwe closes to the top of the opening the second section will be the bottom or floor of the quiver.
Cut the bamboo to 21 inches, leaving one section to be the bottom and the top to be the section you will remove, using a long chisel or a chisel with an extension remove the top section, hollowing out the bamboo, then grind whatever is left of the section with a drill or air grinder using a rough grinding stone is easy, air hose the interior to get rid of grinding dust, pour polyurethane inside and swirl around so the entire inside gets a coat of the varnish.
Apply 3 coats on the outside, Let it dry well then you can use any skins ,like fox ,beaver otter, coyote ,etc.
Create a loop on the bottom with a piece of leather, you can either screw in with short screws to the face of the bamboo or simply wrap around the quiver and leave enough leather for a loop, this do in top and bottom, then youu can wrap the top and bottom with skins, fold the skin in top and glue 3 inches inside the hollow tube so it will act as cushion for the arrows, and will eliminate noise from the arrows rubbing against the bamboo. atach a braided rope or leather strap to the loops as shown in pic and presto you have a cheap and strong quiver and very light also.
Note:
In My quiver I used 2 pieces of africanlion Skin I had leftover.
You can stick a piece of foam on the bottom of the quiver and that will save the sharpness ofthe Broadheads.
