Late checkin' in here guys. Our season (wv) started Mon. I was out Mon and Tues morning and have some great areas to hunt. I was very disappointed in the number of gobbles I heard (which was NONE) although we (cousin and I ) saw birdsboth days. I could not even get them to shock-gobble at crow or owl calls before daylight and have yet to even hear a gobble. I'll be back at it again Fri or Sat. I 've lived out west the last several years and have not had a chance to spring hunt much lately although I have killed several in my life including a nice one last fall.

I can hunt them when they're quiet but it sure is not near as much fun. If anyone has any advice on different techniques to "make them talk" that would be good. take care and good luck

Some said that the proliferation of coyotes could be the reason for their silence or perhaps with the mild winter and late season their business is pretty much over.
