Default RE: Question on long shots?

I use 2.5x10x50 and 3.5x10x50 on my 2 main rifles for deer, pronghorn or other bigger game hunting. I stated that I wouldn't bat an eye at 300 yard shot and I don't. I practice a lot of long range shots and in the field will only take those long pokes with a solid rest and good broadside shot opp. Most of my deer are 200 or under, but where we live one minute bush, the next wide open and miles to see. In my neck of the woods out to 250 is considered normal, not long.

I believe in good quality optics. I also like 50MM objectives vs 40. bigger and heavier, but clearer and brighter...with a much more refined field of view. Just my opinion though. I know many of guys who shoot the with 40's and lesser scopes...each his own. I always suggest buy as much scope as you can, don't settle. A good scope will follow you through your rifles and pay it self back time and time again.

Something else to consider if you are long poker is the caliber, but I won't get into that one.
