RE: Question on long shots?
i grew up using a straight 4 power scope and have taken many deer in the 400 yrd range without a problem, my dad and brother still use a straight 4 power. i recently upgraded to a multi power scope 4-12 power so i can use it in place of spotting scope and binos, the less i have to carry the happier i am, i only shoot using the 4 power setting.
with all the new scopes out with focus, zoom and wind adjustments i've seen allot of people miss their shot opportunity cranking on the nobs. i addition shooting when shooting at long distance with and after looking at high power i think people underestimate the range and end up shooting low.
so i like low power but have to say the difference in the clarity of the image of a tasco compared to a leopold is a lot and would recommend going with the higher end.
