Aerials are usually made around Feb. or March when the leaves are off of the trees. Pines and other conifers will show up as darker areas and hardwoods will be lighter. This is a poor aerial for some reason, and I can't tell much about it. You may be able to get a better picture from the local property appraisers office or a local timber company. I don't see the circles in the fields, but it is probably just the equipment harvest patterns you see. Often maps will have errors about the location of streams.
