Even though the Genesis has a draw range of 15" to 30" it only tops out at 20lb. A good target bow (except for the cost) but not a good hunting bow.

I would suggest the Browning Micro Midas 2. Draw lenght is 22"-27" and weight is 30-40lbs enough for a young hunter. Reasonable price, Cabelas has the kits for under $200 or check around you might find a used one for sale. EBay has 2 selling right now.

My house has 2 and I couldn't be more pleased with them.
