I shot a Bull elk at 125 yards with the 14 inch T/C contender in 35 Remington. He went down like a bag of bricks andnever quivvered. It gets 2200 fps with the 180 grain bullet from the contender. It will do 2000 with the 220 grain from a 18.5-20 inch barrel. I have seen quite a few moose taken at woods ranges with the 35 Remington as well. Its made to be a 150 yard on in gun and at that, it does very well. Newer won't kill any deader. Its been a popular woods cartridge for almost a 100 years. The pump is also noy limited to round nose and flat nose bullets.
