Default RE: Maine weather

janc-According to Kevin M. this morning Saturday looks like plowable snow in eastern and northern parts of the state. I'm waiting to see when they think it might start in so I can plan my opening day. I have to drive about an hour and a half each way to get to my hunting area and you know how travelling in the snow can be up here.

At the same time I would rather see some light snow than rain. The way I hunt I rely entirely on my ability to see and hear movement so a rain storm pretty much takes that away from me in the woods. The fact that I wear glasses makes it that much more of a miserable experience. A light snow would provide a good backdrop making it easier to notice any deer movement. The ability to spot recent tracks is a great bonus too.

Either way I've got the entire first week off for vacation plus a few odd days throughout the month giving me a total of 15 days in which I can try my luck this year. Last year it took 3 days while I got skunked the year before. If the weather cooperates the odds should be better this year.

I wish the best of luck to everyone this season. I hope to see several new members for The Biggest Bucks In Maine Club!
