Default Shooting the Omega

I have a couple of things to share with you all...

The comb lift I put on to get better alignment with the scope WORKS. I really feel a lot more comfortable with it. For me it is and added measure of stock control.

I switched rings from Warne rings to adjustable Millet rings. So I did have to sight it in all over again. I shot a variety of bullets and sabots. I started off shooting 300 grain XTP mags in some very old TC Mag sabots, followed by 300 grain Speer Gold Dots in an MMP HPH-24. The Gold Dots were a little tighter group at 50 yards but they also had the newer sabots. I moved the target to 100 yards, well actually 108, off the muzzle. My first shots I sent 4 .458 Hornady 300 grain HP down range, followed by the Gold Dots - this bullet really did stay tighter than the Hornadys... Then just to check myself 4 .458 Nosler Partitions - they shot really well staying right with if not just inside the Gold Dots. All of this was with 100 grains of T7 loose.

My last shots were back with the Gold Dots, but upping the powder to 110 grains - I think the gun like that charge better than the 100 grain charge. Shot both the .452 Gold Dots and the .458 Noslers again. Plenty happy....

Then just for the fun of and now I kinda wish I had not done it... but I then shot a group of 6 - 10mm 200 grain Hornady XTP's down range in to one of the small targets in the corner. Dang that is a sweet shooting bullet - I really like shooting it and patterns great. I keep thinking - this against all ML thought a small light bullet for big game but it sure looks good. I just wish it was bonded... next I wish somebody would use it in some game... I keep thinking to myself - I shot a 200 grain bullet all my life from a 300 win mag - I know it can work - but then different bullet different velocity out of this ML - but on paper it looks good.

Maybe I'll try the wet phone book thing - just need to know if it will hold together...

It sure was nice to shoot - hope everybody got a chance....
