man that looks photoshopped to me,
you know i'm kidding. that is a beautiful, beautiful buck. wow, is there a story to go with it?
Here's thestory that I put in the hunting contest...
I'm running on fumes ( work has been a bear thispast week )but since tomorrow is also going to be a busy hectic day, I figured I would post the details tonight.
First off... I have to thank my wife.Last night I was beat from work. I set the alarm for4 AM. Seems ( according to the wife )I put it in a world of hurts this morning when it went off. I don't remember. [&:]She woke me up a little later. This morning never would have happened without her!! I owe her big time!!
We got out toTyler's spot. I left Tyler in a great draw that we knew one really nice buck was using to go back to his bedding area. I continued on a 1/2 mile moreto another draw. With the late start,it was getting fairly light out when I got to my draw. A great little pinch point ( funnel ). I could see the feeding area once the light got good enough a half mile away. Isaw movement and grabbed the binocs.Agood buck was heading my way but still a good half mile away.Wasn't long and he was out of sight in the rolly land. Good news was he was heading to me or Tyler. Bad news... there was a few small sloughs he could stop at and bed down before he got to us.
A doe came within 40 yards from me. Then I noticedafew more deer coming from the feeding area...2 bucks and a doe.One was decent but pretty young yet, the other was was small. They disappeared. 20 minutes later, I caught movement in the draw. A buck was sticking to the insideedge of the cover but heading my way. It was the buck Tyler and I scouted this summer...
He had one more slough that he could possible bed in. I lost sight of him as he headed into it. 2 minutes later the two other buck came into the draw and also disappeared into the slough. I was thinking close but no cigar for me at that point. 10 minutes later... the big buck came out. He still hugged insidedthe cover and I hoped he would move out into the draw a little more. I wasalso hugging the insidecover and he was coming right at me!! I had no shot if he continued since I was playing at his level and not in a tree. Roughly at 35 yards he moved out. I breathed a sigh of relief!!He didn't move out much though. There wasstill a lot of cover to fight. I planned on a 20 yard shot and that wouldn't have been a problem. I had to pass on him when he got broadside at 10 yards!!! [:@] I wassitting ona " corner "though. Called thinking ahead!!

He got past me and turned to go by me on the other side. Would have been a 4 yard shot but he stopped and decide to turn back on his original path. I foundan openingand got a 12 yard quartering awayshot. He piled up pretty fast and in sight.
What a hunt!! I doubt I will ever top this one... the hunt or the buck. I was pretty happy. Tylerhad2 smaller bucks go by him. He was pretty happy for mewhen I told him the news. I was worried he would be disappointed he didn't get a crack at him. He wasn't a bit although thiswhen I got home from work to take him hunting this afternoon... he asked mewhat happened to the double dibs he claimed on the buck.We both had a good laugh.
Be warned... a rough week at work, age, lack of sleep... I am not liable for making your eyes hurt!!! Tyler could only do so much with the camera. LOL Sure is a mighty fine buck though!!
