RE: Selling Deer antlers
Check your regs for the answer to this question.(In terms of letter of the law!!!)
FYI, Letter of the law regarding antlers here is basically:
-In the case of harvested animals the only thing reguired is a tag(Hunter license of which the animal was legally harvested).
-However found skull and antlers legally require a wildlife permit to possess(this must be requested by the person wishing to possess the antlers).
-In the above case the owner can sell the legally harvested animal antlersbut the found ones get a "personal"use clause attached to the permit when issued (this is toprevent black market selling). So the found ones by law could only be given away. In each case the law requires the new owner to apply for the same permit to legally possess these antlers.
Shed antlers are non applicable in our area, they can be sold, possessed, etc without any documentation required (legally). Not deemed to be living!
Here I know many don't lose any sleep over thisbut it is how the laws read regarding possessing antlers. If they were caught by some chance they would face the same charges as persons found shooting an animal illegally.Ignorance is not a defense in a court of law!!!
