The jeep trail from the Ptarmigan lake area takes you to 13,200 on the top of the ridge line. From there you drop down to hunt the basin at 10,500. You could pack back up to the top of the ridge if you feel like it. I chose to go about 4 miles down some trails to get to a jeep trail coming up from the taylor park area. You can get to the basin from that direction, but it is a good walk in. I prefer to come over the ridge. Just watch the weather as I learned how to ski a ford ranger off the ridge line when 8" of snow fell while I was hunting. I hunted with good success in this area while I was going to school at the AF Academy. Now I am in Washington State with the Air Force. Definately a good location. Just higher than most want to hunt. Don't know if it is still an OTC area or not.
