Default RE: MADMEN!

Daniel...I posted this over on disabledlife, but thought it might fit in good here too.....

I think we all agree that the biggest problem with the anti's is in thier ignorance.
Every year we hear the horror stories of carelessness among hunters hunting on PUBLIC land. Accidental shootings, falling out of stands..etc. I am courious as to how many hunting accidents accur on private owned game ranch's. I bet the numbers are few in comparison. And why is that??? My theory is......safety first!!!!!
Game ranch owners take on a huge burden in keeping the client safe, first and foremost. All hunters locations are known at all times. Safety briefings are held just before going out. Keeps the safety issue in the front of your mind, I'll tell you. Now, I'm not knocking the thrill of getting up before dawn, getting out into the woods with your hunting buddy, and experiencing the thrill of the day's hunting adventure, but I do believe that adrenalin rush can and has made people complacent in the need to being aware that hunting can be dangerous.
And so we move on to the issue of disabled hunters. What better place would you want to be in? There are not enough game ranch's who can, or will, cater to the disabled hunter, but there are a few. Sometimes that safety thing can work against us. It is only because of the compassionate few, that we can still get out to hunt. Closing the gates of game ranch's is an injustice to the ones who are truly ligitimate in providing everybody with a safe inviroment. Stalking prey is not really an option to me. And anybody who says hunting in a fenced area is to easy, or not fair, probably has never done it. I think people are confusing fenced with penned. Take a 340 acre ranch, sit in a stationary spot, and see if you can hit that "fence"!!!! My guess is no...unless you brought along your genade launcher. I could not shoot any animal in a 8 by 12 area. Just an example, but you get the point. I would much rather sit there all day and enjoy the beauty of what Mother Nature has provided for use to enjoy. If my prey doesnt come into the zone, then it just wasn't meant to be. That is all.
