HAHA it sounds like you have put in the time all right. Mouth calling is not that difficult, especially to be able to call well enough to go to the woods.I don't think that your problem is necessarily the brand or type of calls you are using because you should be able to get a basic yelp, raspy or not, on just about anything. However, I believe that apremium mouth call, sold by a smaller company, will give you way better sound than a mass produced by a larger company like you'll find at Wal-mart. You need to either invest in a video, orget help in person from someone who can blow a call well. Thats what I would do, is get a person to help me 1 on 1.

I will suggest a couple calls that I believe will change your luck...My favoritemouth call to hunt with, and yelp in competitions is LegacyGame Calls "Wild Hunter."IT is a V cut call, and you will find that a V-cut is perhaps the most popular and versatile cut of mout hcall out there. Check out any of the Legacy Calls, I believe they are the best out there. www.gameacc.net.

Remember that mouth calling is several things, air and tongue pressure, call placement in the mouth, and movement of your jaw as awell. The yelpis really a two-note sound...KEEUCK or CHEEUCK. You drop into the low note by dropping your jaw with steady air pressure. It's hard to teach by typing but i hope this helps.

If the call doesn't even feel right in your mouth, you may try trimming thetape to fit your mouth better. Hope this helps. Good luck! You know its not rocket science when most turkey hunters are just good ole boys like me!
Ditto!!
