I don't think that I mentioned here or not but my son has made the switch from shooting RH to LH a few months ago. It was a tough decision to make cause he was shooting well RH for the past three years. Here is a picture of his form shooting right hand last year withmy wife's(and formerly my mother's) Bear Recurve:
Anyway we were finally able to see that his dominent eye was his left eye, so we figured while he was young enough, we would try to make the switch for a while and see how it worked. I got him a LH self bow (20#) in January, and to tell you the truth, he is now shooting LH (in three months) almost as good as he was right handed (3 years). I am actually shocked. Kids can sure make changes easy.
I felt it was time to move him up a notch in bows and found the Howard Hill Bear Cub longbow at Howard Hill Archery. It is a custom made bow for $200 that is built exactly the same as the full size models up to 40# at 26". Now IMO 40#s at 26" is big enough to go after deer. Now he is not shooting anywhere near 26" yet but in another three years when he is old enough to big game hunt in NY he should be pretty close to that draw length, so I ordered it right at the max and he will be able to grow into it.
I got him a Cheetah model, it is a shedua riser with juniper limbs and abamboo core, pistol grip. Of course I had to get a few extras including overlays and a leather lace up handle. The kid is a little spoiled, I try.
Should be here in 4 weeks or so. Just had to share.
