Default A good lessen learned today

This morning my father shot a doe from 25 yards, and was unsure of the hit due to his arrow speeds. It was foggy and misting, but we stuck with our decision to wait 1 hour. After the 1 hour wait, we began tracking, to a meager blood trail. Determined to give it our all, we tracked for 6 hours in thickets, getting soaked, with only 125 yards of blood trail to show for it. Our hopes for recovery were grim, but we continued on. at 2pm, we called some fellow club members for help. We all gave up hunting today and ended up finding the deer 200 - 250 yards away. Liver shot. While we were very in doubt of recovery, we kept going, and when we lost blood, one person would stand at last blood, and 3 others would crawl on hands and knees, looking for signs of the wounded deer.
Morel of the story. Just because you run out of blood, or track for 2 hours doesnt mean that deer isnt dead. We tracked that deer from 8 - 4:30, without a blood trail for 50 yards. Perserverence and patience will reward you with a recovery! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
