RE: Weightlifting and Exercises to increase draw weight on bow
I was not interested in draw weight, but I did need to visit the chiropractor after shooting for the first time three years ago. Doc said keep exercising by pulling the bow.
So I bought a cheapused compound kids bowand riggedupa non-release wrist strap. It was probably 30 lbs or so max. I also took off the string guide so my hand wouldn't hit it when I let the string back. Exercised with it every night, graduating from 25 to 100 reps. I very quickly graduated to more weight.
Now I have a cheap old 70# noisy creaky klunky bow that I got on ebay for $60.00 for the same purpose. I draw 70 lbs about 50 to 100 times a night about 4 nights a week. Many reps I only pull halfway and hold there. Makes my 60 lb bow feel very light and manageable and no more chiropractor.
