Okay, here's a few pics of my cresting machine and general disaster area of a workshop (5 square feet of my basement):
Note the drywall screws used to attach the motor to the shelf. The bracket was already attached to the motor, I just used my vice to straighten it out a little. The foam is for vibration dampening (simms? no!)
I could have done something interesting to mount the rheostat neatly, or I could just blast it into the edge of the shelf with a drywall screw!
