Default RE: Scent Control

ORIGINAL: nodog

Got busted by the same deer 3 years in a row. Wore the suit and killed it. Wore the suit this year and killed the one that was with it the year before. We have few deer in this area, hunting pressure is high, the land I killed them on is small and very difficult to get into unnoticed, and as far as I can tell these were the same animals.

So again...........could you please explain how the suit is what made the difference?? I have a "lucky" shirt that I have killed some of my best deer in.........I wear it out of superstition and have no evidence at all that it helps me.........but I feel good when I know it is under my camo. I was looking for an explanation of how the suit was what allowed you to kill the deer and without it all would have been lost.

Without the scent control they are still a quality garment and worth what I paid. Very wind resistant and I believe that is part of the scent control. If wind can't get in stink can't get out. Others I hunt with feel the same way and they killed more than me.

What a VERY interesting statement........you say you feel as though the suit is wind resistent??.......in other words it is not very permeable to air currents. Do you know how carbon works? It works as a filter.....a filter that must have whatever is being filtered forced through and over it to pull the undesired particles from that substance.......a clear example would be if you had a room full of guys smoking cigars and ripping chili farts and you wanted to clear the air of the smoke and odors.......if you take a carbon filter and set it on the table it will do nothing........take that filter and place it in the forced air ducts circulating the rooms air and it will then work as a filter because the air is being forced through the material........just like a coffee makers filter doesn't do any good unless the water from the grounds is forced through it.

If wind can't get in your suit then it can't get out either.......at least not through the suit. It will still escape out the neck and sleeves and waist where resistence is minimal.......but that really defeats the purpose.

Next time you work up a sweet case of B.O.........put on whatever jacket you want (leather, carhart, nylon sports team jacket, ski jacket...whatever) Then lean over and try to smell your pits through the jacket..........now tuck your chin and put your nose near the neck opening and fluff the jacket a little bit and smell how much stink comes wafting up out that neck opening.

I am still interested in your explanation if you would like to elaborate.
