BTW, how smooth is the finish on the Gold Tips?
Sorry just got back in town. The finish is smooth for sure andI'm trying to figure out if the label on shaft is a very thin sticker or a painted on label. There is no lip to catch your finger nail on. Hope that helps describe how smooth they are. [&:]They should pull from target very easily.
I did some moreexterior "micing" and it appears the shafts range from .294 at the very tip next to cut edge and increase to .2965 on the remainder of shaftexterior diameter. 10 of the 12 shafts require .5 of an inch to be cut from nock end to bring them right up to .2965and 1 inch to be cutfrom tip insert end to bring exterior diameter up to .2965. 2 of the 12 shafts are reversed... meaning more needs to be cut from the nock endof shaft vs. tip insert end of shaft to bring them up to the .2965. Only reason to do this was if you wanted to have entire length of shaft diameter right at .2965. Not a big deal, just seems that maybe the shaft got the label reversed during manufacturing. We are splitting hairs here big time,so it's not a problem, just something I noticed. To make the 12 shafts all the same,I would have tocut more off the nock end than the front end on 2 of the 12. I don't want to do this because myarrow wraps willbe installed over the end of shaft label.
Gibblet have you noticed this yet? Do you live with it or just cut more off nock end? Tim at GT say hecuts fromboth endsas required to get the best straightness, but having your arrow wraps overlaping shaft label would look kind of silly.I'm by no means good enough to notice the performance change in doing this, just something to learn fromand do just for the sake of knowing you're doing your best to buildthat "perfect" arrow.
