Default RE: bullet weight

Also, I read a post about smoothing barrels using round balls and I'm wanting to do this. To do this I don't use a patch is that correct? Which means I would need .45 caliber round balls correct?
I suppose a pure lead roundballover-sized by 3 or 4 thousands to land diameter would work, but I would use patches and smaller than bore balls. Also it sounds like you have a something on the order of 1:28 twist. If so, I wouldn't use 90 grains under a roundball in that gun. It will skip rifling and lead your barrel.

Here is what I am using to smooth outthe bore in my sidekick. 65 grains RS and 245 grainBuffalo Ballet. Velocity is 1630 or so and it wont lead your barrel.

Happy Hunting, Phil
