Default bullet weight

I have a .45 caliber rifle and I was just wondering if 180 grain bullets (that are used with sabotsso areprobably .40 caliber) are heavy enough for deer or if I should look for a heavier round? Might be important also for you to know that i push it with 90 grains of powder.

Also, I read a post about smoothing barrels using round balls and I'm wanting to do this. To do this I don't use a patch is that correct? Which means I would need .45 caliber round balls correct?
