The spread of the "U" just depends on how big of an area you are hunting and how many decoys you have. You dont need alot of decoys to use this pattern, just make sure you leave room for the ducks and geese to land.

This works if the wind is blowing from behind you.
Then reverse it if the wind is in your face.
