[quote]How many coyotes have you killed this winter? The hunting regulations on them are about as liberal as you can get. Do you think the blame commission should kill them for you? And one last thing. Where do you get this "The deer herd is in trouble," stuff? There are enough deer out there to have good hunting. If you aren't seeing enough where you hunt, change areas. The problem is that you have to hunt them now. You will never see the herds of fifty deer you saw thirty years ago, not ever again. Get used to the idea and start becoming a hunter. That is what it is all about. [quote]

I haven't killed any so far because of nagging injuries related to my disability. I'm going out tomorrow though so hopefully that number changes. I do think the deer herd is down and i have reasoning to. i hunted all of archery and rifle season and i believe i may have seen 25 deer the whole time if i am lucky. I went weeks in between sometimes without seeing any. I dont want the days of seeing 50deer a day but i would like to see 1 or 2 everyon a fairly regular basis. I doconsider myself a hunter so i dont think i need to become one. I scout year round i know whats in my area and it's poor. Land access around here is hard to get. I have 4 pieces of ground i have access to so i do hunt different areas the hunting is just getting poor. i logged so many hours on stand last yr i would not even be able to take a guess. My main area is not overharvested either we work together with the neighboring land owners and limit our harvest every year. This has been going on long before i started hunting and deer were very abundunt. Up untill about 3yr ago hunting there was great. Coyote tracks started showing up there about 6yr ago. We have also found coyote killed carcasses on the property so i do believe the coyotes are killing some of our deer. The deer have no reasoning to leave the property either because we always provide them with crops every year and they have cover and still abundent browse. I'm not saying the coyotes are killing all of the deer but i do believe something funny is going on.
