can whitetails distinguish human urine from other types?
Can they tell it is not DEER urine?
Who knows for sure? We now know/believe that they use scents to tell each other apart but do they have the ability to actually SORT all of the types of urine they must smell every single day into certain catagories?? I doubt it. Wouldn't they be running away ALL the time from all the predator urine they must come across?? Seems to me you'de have some seriously tired deer!! We've come along way in understanding deer behavior but we will never ever fully understand what they're thinking.

Will peeing in the woods spook off deer?
From everything I've read and from my own experiences, I say absolutely not so long as the deer doesn't bust you in the act. They're probably more startled by just seeing your movement and catching your human scent if they caught you going. Last year I went right off my stand and had a deer sniffing the spot a half an hour later. That deer never once acted spooked by the smell. Your biggest risk from going off your stand is causing the deer to hang around longer, increasing their odds for catching your human scent.

Also, even if you "teach" ONE deer to associate human urine to danger, it in NO WAY mean ALL the deer in your area now possess this knowledge!! They're not the BORG!! Just like spooking one while walking to your stand...it doesn't necessarily mean the whole day is shot.
