I used on last week in a pouring rain. It saved me from getting soaked to the bone. I had a group of 14 30-50# pigs come in and eat corn with it spooking them. Then I had 3 coyotes (now 2)come in without ever looking up.
The rain hitting the umbrella sounds a lot like the rain hitting the forest floor and fallen leaves to me.
