Deer #2 was shot at just over 700 yards, still too close, but trying to find co-operative deer on short notice is difficult. This 1 was shot witha 750 gr Hornady Amax, which is widely thought of to be a decent hunting bullet for the 50s. WRONG!! The bullet impacted slightly too far back, entering the gut. No exit wound was made, the bullet completely fragmented inside the deer, causing unbelieveable tissue damage. Hence a lot of lost meat. I do NOT recommend using the Amaxs on game, they are great target bullets, but my experience with them for hunting was very poor performance.
