Another thing to keep in mind is that you want touse the horizontal distance, and not the distance from you in the stand to the animal. Before you set up it is a good idea to range a few trees or other places where you think you will get the shot from the base of your tree, or if you forget, make sure to range to trees staight across from you while in your stand.
