Default RE: Scope mount and rings ?? for Omega

I definitely recommend quick release/detachable rings for most any inline. Makes cleaning much easier and in doing so helps minimize the chance of damage to a scope or its finish from solvents, rods, etc. The Warne, TC Maxima, and Stratton Custom ( or http://www.matchgrademachine.com/) are all good solid steel bases with some mounting flexibility for ring position. The latter two (one really) are more contoured and perhaps aesthetically pleasing but also a bit higher priced. Good QD rings to fit Weaver-style bases can be had from several manufacturers but the Warnes from UltOut.com are hard to beat. The Leupold QR style base setup is also my favorite for some of my muzzleloaders but for the Encore/Omega, I would tend to prefer the Warne style.

Millett is showing a new type of ring on their website that looks interesting - The Grabber - fits Weaver cross-slots but I haven't seen it anywhere else yet.

B-Square used to make a nice base for the Contender. Picatinny style cross-slots from one end to the other along with a front tensioning screw with brass tip for the inevitable gap. Don't know why the dropped it or if they ever made one for the Encore, but I like the base on my G2. TC's continuing insistence on treating every barrel as if intended for a handgun (the very close spacing of the mount screws) baffles me. Even the new Pro Hunter shows no improvement there.
