I always prided myself on being able to find any spot in my area of woods in total darkness. I also bragged about how I was never afraid of the woods at night.
Then one time while I was bowhunting that changed real quick. It was an hour or so before sunup with no moon. I got settled into my ground blind and closed my eyes to listen to the peacefulness of the forest around me. About 10 minutes later a tomcat started letting out some godawful sounds about 10 yards behind me. The worst part was in all my years I had never ever heard one before. I was up and out of those woods as fast as possible and told everyone I had heard a bigfoot or an Indian ghost. Boy did they laugh like heck when I described what it sounded like.<img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>
The only other time I have been spooked is when deer snort at me from about 5 yards away on the way into my stand. It usually happens about twice a season and it still gets me every time.
