You'll want to consider what kind of habitat you're hunting. I assume you hunt Texas? If you hunt mostly pretty open areas, the cheaper brands will do just fine, even the ones made for golf . The higher end brands are more precise andwon't give false reading when you have something like grasses, twigs, etc in the way. I have a Bushnell and it works good if I'm not in thick stuff.
