Coug's got a good point... Back in the day, I won probably 30 or 40 tennis tournaments in several different states and taught at college tennis camps.
I would make sure everything I could control was in perfect working order, fine-tuned to the best of my ability... but when it came time to "perform," I just walked out onto the court and did it -- without any thinking, other than strategy.
Of course, I put in countless thousands of hours working on technique in practice -- and maybe that's what you're referring to. But game day is time to let everything flow naturally.
