That is kinda what was worrying me.... Are you indicating that the lead had separated from the copper on some of the bullets you dug out? I'm getting 16" to 20" penetration in damp Palouse farm soil from the Noslers I normally shoot.

Although last night I remembered why I had not shot these 10 mm (40 cal) bullets sooner, they are not legal for ML big game hunting in Idaho - 44 cal is the smallest we can use - hence i have not even looked at a 45 cal muzzleloader.
