Try some on for size at a good gun shop. Some that have ranges will let you shoot some of the available models. I would suggest a Ruger Blackhawk in 44 Mag. You could shoot 44 Speciak loads for practice. Another choice in the Blackhawk is the one in 45 Long Colt with a 45 ACP cylinder. I hade a couple of those over the years. Check to see if 45 Long Colt is legal for big game in your area. It has plenty of WHOP in the Blackhawk in which it can be loaded to NEAR 44 Mag levels.
