hmmmmm...lets see here....steel construction reciever (870)...vs aluminum (500)....hmmmmm....plastic trigger gaurd (500)vs. steel trigger gaurd (870)......hmmmmm......plastic safety thats on the tang so it can be bumped and maybe break (500)vs.... a steel safety thats protected inside the steel trigger gaurd (870). and not to mentionthe reputation of a much noisier action on a mossberg due to a rattling forearm. Giving all these and prices beingsimilar for both. I would without adoubt buy a remington 870.It shows that they are much better built
