both types of alcohol will actually work. I used denatured alcohol for a long time and then got some isopropyl and because of the smaller bottles found it easier to store with my muzzleloading stuff. I now use the 91% isopropyl when I mix my solutions and when I use straight alcohol as a swab I use the 70% isopropyl alcohol..
