I'm guessing that you lost the spring that wraps around the primer holder.
On the spring there's a little finger that applies pressure to the side of the 209 primer.
On my T/C 209 Firestorm, the spring was missing too and I had to get a replacement. T/C was real good about it and sent one in the mail free of charge.
