Some shooters do shoot all eight. Many shoot six of the eight to have a throw away score, in case of a bad score from an event.
A lot shoot the five events to qualify.
A strong score over the five shoots will give a pretty good measure of where a shooter ranks in many different conditions.
It also allows shooters from a greater geographical area to participate in a similar participatory format.
