RE: .300 Weatherby Magnum
I shoot a Sako 75 chambered for the .300 Weatherby. When I bought this rifle I was actually looking for a .300 RUM, but the dealer had a deal on the Sako which I couldn't pass up. I just felt the Sako was a much nicer rifle than the Remington.
There's not a dimes worth of difference between these two rounds in terms of performance. I reload, so the cost of ammo is not an issue for me. The .300 Wby is a fine cartridge in my book and I look for it to be around for quite a while.
