Default RE: .300 Weatherby Magnum

300 ultra-mag was invented for one thing and one thing only to capture Market Share from Weatherby and in the process slowly put them out of business. Lets examine what an amazing piece of engineering we have here. Get one of the largest rifle cases that will fit in a standard action and cram it full of slow burning powder and then only realize a 100-150 fps advantage over the 300 wthby while burning at minimum 20 grains or more of powder. Wow what an engineering feat heretofore not imagined. I have seen a ultramag break a scope ring(Leupold std front) in half . I thought it was hilarious the guy shooting it wasn't real thrilled , he was taking it pronghorn hunting in Wyoming in a few weeks. Bet he needed all that horsepower for an 80lb pronghorn. How much flatter does it really shoot ? Can anyone truthfully say it is any better and that you can harvest game with it that you can't with the 300 wthby ? As Far as retail prices you are comparing apples with oranges...Weatherby ammo has Norma brass which costs 2x what cheap Remington brass costs. If you were to buy both boxes of brass and chronograph them side by side I bet the difference would shock most of you.
