RE: Is it too early to rattle????
I don't think it's ever too early to rattle as long as a fair number of bucks are out of velvet and the situation and conditions are favorable. But I seriously believe that late in the season, say the tail-end of the rut and later can be too LATE. By then the hierarchy within the buck population is well established and the majority of receptive does have been bred.
That's just my thoughts due to the observations I have made in the areas that I hunt. Different areas, different results. And as always, there are exceptions to every rule.
